The goal of Chesapeake Pediatric Dental Group is to give kids a positive dental experience at an early age so that they can have a positive attitude about medical appointments throughout their years. With the experience of our staff, we are able to offer both children and parents a non-threatening environment so that dental experiences are fun and easy.

Meet Hakan O. Koymen, DDS, MS

Dr. Koymen is a board-certified pediatric dentist originally from Michigan. He attended the University of Detroit Mercy for dental school, and did his pediatric dental training at the University of Maryland. He is involved with organized dentistry where he is the Past President of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and he is the current Northeastern District Trustee for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He is also the Dental Director for the MD Healthy Smiles Program and lobbies at both the State and National level on behalf of children to have access to quality dental care. He is on staff at Franklin Square Hospital and at the University of Maryland.

Meet Luz M. Tennassee, DDS

Dr Tennassee is a board-certified pediatric dentist originally from Toronto, Canada. She attended University of Maryland for both dental school and her residency in pediatric dentistry. She believes that children need a tender touch during their visits, and her ability to calm patients and parents is her greatest asset. She is on staff at Franklin Square Hospital and she is also bilingual in English and Spanish.

Meet Marta Jolesz, DDS

Dr. Jolesz is a board-certified pediatric dentist from Boston, Massachusetts. She attended University of Maryland for both dental school and her pediatric dental training. She also completed an additional residency at Harvard Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. She is on staff at Franklin Square Hospital and Kernan Hospital, and used to be a clinical instructor at the University of Maryland.

Meet Hyejin Esther Cho, DMD

Dr. Cho is a board-certified pediatric dentist from Maryland. She attended Tufts University for dental school and then served in the Navy as a dental officer where she completed a residency in general dentistry. During her time in the Navy, she was stationed in Iraq and at Camp Lejune. She did her pediatric dental training at the University of Maryland and is on staff at Franklin Square Hospital.

Meet Sylvia Yen, DMD, MPH

Dr. Yen is a board certified pediatric dentist from Wisconsin. She grew up living internationally in Hong Kong, the Philippines, Nigeria and Kuwait. She has a Masters in Public Health from Tulane University and attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine for her dental degree. She completed her pediatric specialty training at the University of Maryland. She is on staff at Franklin Square Hospital and us to be a clinical instructor at the University of Maryland Pediatric Dentistry Department. Due to her experience in the field of public health, Dr. Yen is committed to assuring that all patients receive equal access to quality dental care.

Meet Jennifer Mai, DDS

Dr. Mai is a board certified pediatric dentist who earned her dental degree at the University of Maryland. After graduation, she went on to complete a one-year General Practice Residency program at York Hospital, followed by a two-year Pediatric Dental specialty program at Temple University Hospital. She stayed in Philadelphia to teach at the residency program and work in private practice before returning home to Maryland.

Meet Esther Durgam, DDS

Dr. Durgam is a board-certified pediatric dentist who earned her dental degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. She moved to New York to complete a General Practice Residency at Kingsbrook Medical Center, followed by a two-year Pediatric Dental specialty program at Maimonides Medical Center. She stayed in New York to work in private practice before moving back home to Maryland a few years ago. She is on staff at Franklin Square Hospital and is fluent in Hindi and Telugu.

Meet Anne Isaacs, DDS

Dr. Isaacs is a board eligible pediatric dentist from Baltimore, Maryland who earned her dental degree at the University of Maryland. After graduation, she went on to complete a one-year fellowship in general dentistry and oral medicine at the Perrypoint VA Medical Center. She then completed a two-year Pediatric dental specialty program at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, where she received exceptional training in providing high quality care to both well and medically compromised children. She believes all children deserve access to adequate dental care and is excited to be a part of the CPDG team.

Meet Eileen Buckle, DDS

Dr. Eileen Buckle has always had a passion to work with children. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from University of Michigan, she continued on as a Michigan Wolverine, graduating from the dental program 4 years later with her doctorate. She continued on to get her specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, DC where she won the “Pediatric Dentistry Award” for the most accomplished resident in the Pediatrics program. A lover of travel and passionate believer in the power of community service, she has traveled on dental missions internationally, providing care for children in underprivileged areas of Ghana and Jamaica. In her spare time, this devoted wife and mother of four loves to spend time with her family and when she can, curl up with a good book.
